Kelsea Ballerini Shares Heartfelt Tribute To Her Dog Amid Cancer Battle

Kelsea Ballerini shared a sweet tribute to her beloved dog amid his ongoing cancer battle.

The Patterns singer-songwriter shared a photo on her Instagram story on Tuesday (June 10) of her dog wearing a party hat and a bandana that reads “Birthday Boy.” She wrote on that slide of her Instagram story: “happy 10th birthday my sweet Dibby doo. You’re my best friend forever and I’m so grateful we get to celebrate double digits of life together. You’re kicking cancer’s a** 🤍😭” On another slide of her story, she added: “the biggest thank you to everyone who has been keeping Dibby in your prayers and sending him sell wishes. He loves you and w’re so grateful. 🤍”

Ballerini opened up about her dog’s cancer battle for the first time in late August 2024, when she was getting ready to release her fifth studio album months later. She said at the time that Dibs was “not in pain, and luckily it hasn’t spread further. …It’s a complex and emotional time. He’s been my baby and my steady for the last 9 years and very much alongside this whole journey with us all. I know so many of you care about him and are sending him prayers and love, and from my whole heart… thank you. He’s wagging his tail right now no doubt saying thank you, too.”

Since then, the “First Rodeo” artist has shared a few health updates along the way. One Instagram user asked Ballerini about Dibs in a Q&A on her story in early December 2024. She wrote in her response that Dibs “had another round of chemo today and is hanging tough. Truthfully, his original prognosis was 4 months. That was 4 months ago, but he’s still steady and happy, so every day is a gift and I’m a little extra grateful we get the holidays together this year. 🤍”
